Employment Levels

Employment Levels

Number of people employed, population to employment ratios, unemployment rates and labor force participation rates

Why it matters:

For all educational attainment levels, individuals with full-time work are substantially more likely to marry than those without.

Studies show part-time work reduces the probability of marriage in a given year by about 20 percent relative to full-time work. Those without work are less than half as likely to become married as those with a full-time job. Lack of stable employment among the young contributes significantly to delays in marriage formations and increased incidences of singlehood.

Furthermore, those out of work cannot afford to buy jewelry even for adornment purposes.
