  • There were 59.67 million couple families in 2013
  • Married couple families had an income of $4.571 trillion in 2013 
  • The 45 to 54 age group had the highest number of married-couple families, accounting for 22.3% of the total. It also had the highest share of income - $1,565 trillion or 26.7% 
  • Only 24.9% of married-couple families had income below $50,000 
  • Nevertheless, 54.5% of married couple families in the 15 to 24 age group had income below $50,000 
  • Only 1.8% of married-couple families have a householder in the ages 15 to 24
  • The median income for married-couple families in 2013 was $76,509 
  • The average income for married-couple families in 2013 was $98,323
  •  
  • 51.4 percent of married couple families had income good enough for the upper-middle class bracket
